The village of Happisburgh on the Norfolk Coast is fighting a constant battle
with nature. Over the last few years the wooden sea defences have been failing
and large chunks of the sandy cliffs are regularly falling into the sea.
The battle with the sea can be seen all around Happisburgh, along the beach you
will see many of the sea defences most have now been washed up onto the beach
and only small sections survive, often standing on their own out at sea. As well
as witnessing mans efforts to fight the erosion you can also witness how the sea
affects the local population. Walk along Happisburgh beach and you will often be
able to see the remains of peoples houses and belongings that have been lost to
Nature.
Above all for me Happisburgh remains one of the most beautiful locations on the Norfolk Coast and I hope to convey this beauty in my photographs.
More details about the exhibition can be found in the May edition of Suffolk & Norfolk Life magazine along with a front cover image and a number of images inside the magazine.
