New Year Update It’s almost five years since I decided to pack in the
day job and turn full time as a landscape photographer. 2011 saw one of my
busiest years yet, if I am honest a bit too busy with hardly any days off
and too many 14 hour days. Our first child Sophia was also born in
November which made things that little bit harder. This made sunrise
workshops very difficult as I was doing them on two to three hours sleep
at times, fortunately she now seems in a good routine and I am probably
getting more sleep and going to bed earlier than ever. On the workshop front 2012 weekend workshops are
starting to fill up quickly, the 2012 boat workshop is already sold out
and I have today just sold out the 2013 date so I will probably be adding
a second date for next year’s boat workshop. I also recently purchased a
large format Epson printer that has now made my office look tiny,
hopefully I plan to begin offering full capture to print workshops
sometime this year. The next few months are going to keep me rather busy as
I am in the process of setting up two new photography related businesses,
I can’t say too much at this stage as it’s still early days, but I am
planning on viewing some premises on the North Norfolk Coast & The Suffolk
Coast over the next two weeks so I hope to release further details soon. As for shooting goes I am keeping it simple over the
next few months, I want to capture a good image of Brograve Mill with a
rainbow over it and a lovely winter shot of the dunes at Winterton Beach.
Also on the hit list for 2012 is Thetford Forest, I have seen so many
amazing potential shots in my head whilst driving along the A11 over the
years and have been fortunate to have a few successful days photography
there over the last few years so I hope to put a lot more effort into it
this year. What I love about Thetford Forest is it’s all new to me and
there are no tripod holes in sight. |

2011 Two & Three Day Weekend Workshop I now have only one room left for the Peak District Three night workshop in November, this can be for either a single room for one person or two people sharing either a double or twin room. The 2011 Three Day Norfolk Broads boat workshop is already fully booked and there are now only two rooms left for the 2012 workshop, the 2012 workshop will take place from Friday 12th to Monday 15th October. I do have a few spaces left on the Cromer Hotel workshop in October, this workshop takes place from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October. Our base for this workshop is the fantastic Virginia Court Hotel. This workshop is priced at £295 and includes breakfast, lunch and a three course evening meal, the food on our stay last year was absolutely amazing and a quick check of the reviews at Tripadvisor will tell you all about the quality of this excellent base.

December Update At last we have some
fantastic winter weather and light, however the last week has been
really frustrating for me as I have had to watch it all from my bedroom
window as I am currently recovering from pneumonia. It has been
particularly frustrating as I am currently undertaking a large
commission for the local tourist board to capture winter scenes along my
local stretch of coastline and unlike the previous snow we had back at
the beginning of December this snow seems to have laid even at the
coast, as such this would have been perfect conditions for me to capture
lots of fantastic wintry images. I
must have had around 150 pills in the last week for all the medication that I am
on, but they seem to be working now and I am hoping I will feel well enough to
get back out with the camera sometime after Christmas. I just hope all the
lovely snow stays as I will be going up to the Peak District for a few weeks in
the New Year. Finally I would like to say a
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all my visitors and customers.

October Update The summer never really got going this year and after a terrible September and a bad start to October the weather finally seems to be getting better. I have just updated the latest works gallery for September with a selection of images of the Fens taken at the start of September. I must admit the Fens has never been high on my list of landscapes locations to photograph, however after being commissioned to shoot the area I had to get some good images which involved lots of travelling and getting lost far too often. The man made landscape of the Fens was a real challenge to photograph, everywhere looks the same and there are dykes and man made rivers everywhere so even trying to navigate the area with an OS map can be a challenge. I must admit I did actually enjoy photographing the fens. Because of the unique landscape it did require a slightly different approach to photograph, however even on some of the dull days whilst I was there I was able to spot plenty of locations to return to at a future date. My partner and I usually travel through the area at least once a month when we head up towards Manchester to see her family and friends so I hope to add a new Fens gallery to my website shortly and go about photographing the area over the next year or so. I am also hoping to redevelop my website
slightly in the next month or so to add some new gallery locations and images
that I have shot over the last nine months or so. |

June 2010 Update I have to admit I have struggled to find the time to update my site for the last few months, it's been a really busy few months with commercial work, commissions, weddings and gathering images for a selection of forthcoming books, but hopefully I am finally starting to catch up and hope to be adding lots of new content over the next few months. My girlfriend and I have just bought a house in the village of Martham in Norfolk and are due to move in around the 18th June 2010. As such my address and landline number will be changing, I hope to add the my new contact details in the next week or so. With Three books still to complete in the next month and moving house, June is going to be a bit of a hectic month but once June is out of the way I hope to begin adding more images from locations further afield in the UK. 2010 Update Its been a busy few months and I am slightly behind on all my processing. I have just returned from six weeks away in the Peak District taking winter images for a forthcoming book on the area. Luckily we had plenty of snow, in fact we had a bit too much snow and it was quite difficult to get around the area with lots of the smaller country roads closed. I managed to come away with plenty of images so I now have over 30 GB worth of images to process and a few commercial jobs to catch up on before I can get started. 2010 is going to be a busy year for me with five books due for completion in June. I will also be relocating from Norwich to the village of Martham around the same time, being located on the Norfolk Broads and only two miles from the coast should create lot's more opportunities for myself. I will also be adding a selection of new photography articles and writing a regular monthly blog on this site. Workshops All spring one day workshops are quickly filling up, but
I will also be introducing a selection of new two and three night
residential workshops. The plan is to offer one in Norfolk, one in
Derbyshire and one in Northumberland. I will be adding further details on
these over the next month. Thank you to all 2009 workshop particpants I
have enjoyed some great company, seen some great images and made some good
friends along the way. |

Five New Books Announced
I am currently working on images for five new books for which I have been
commissioned for, three books cover locations in Norfolk, one in Suffolk &
one in the Peak District. A selection of new images shot for these books
will be added to this site over the next six months including a large
number on new panoramic images. Panoramic images are shot using a
specialist panoramic tripod head and then stitched together in computer
software, working in this way ensures a massive file with excellent detail
is captured capable of being printed over a large area. |
