Painting With Light Workshop

Night Photography Workshop

Night Photography Workshop

Painting With Light Workshops involve two to three different locations based in Norfolk, usually around the Norfolk Broads. You will quickly learn the necessary skills to capture striking painting with light and night time photography images. We will aim to capture long exposure star trail images or the remarkable effect of movement from a cloudy night sky.

Photography in the remote areas of the Norfolk Broads & Countryside usually only appeals to photographers in the daytime, however it also offers some fantastic opportunities for night time photography. Painting With Light in these areas is a rewarding and addictive experience, however due to the long hours required in pitch blackness it can also be a very daunting experience if you are alone. By working as part of a small friendly group there will be plenty of time for tuition and participants will generally feel safer and more at ease in the surroundings.

This night photography workshop will begin shortly before sunset and will last for approximately four hours, in this time we will try to take in a few different subjects and locations. Subjects usually include Windmills, Trees, Agricultural Machinery, Barns and a ruined Abbey amongst many other subjects. We will use a selection of lighting options including Flash, Torch Light and Coloured Gels.

To enable you to capture long exposure images on this workshop you will need to check your camera is capable of capturing long exposures using the bulb setting, a tripod and the facility to lock open the cameras shutter is also required (such as a cable release or remote) . If you do not own a cable release for your camera model then we may have one you can borrow for the workshop or third party models for all the major camera manufactures can be purchased from Ebay for as little as £5.00.

Along with painting with light and star trails you will also have the opportunity to shoot some wire wool images as above.

Due to the uniqueness of this workshop early booking is advisable as it always sells out. Because of the nature of this workshop we require an evening without the chance or rain or fog, occasionally if the weather forecast is not favourable we will have to postpone until a future date.

This workshop will begin an hour before sunset and will also include a sunset shoot on the Norfolk Broads
